Two teachers of our school (Dae Chong and Kikyō) will start introducing the practices of Japanese Reiki around the region soon. They will be conducting workshops wherever there is a demand. There will be a maximum of three workshops held in each country in different cities between March 2019 – December 2020. We will be sending out the first letters in this regard to the Reiki masters in the area in February 2019, and from there we will see if there is a positive reception.
The purpose of the workshops is to provide an insight for those Reiki masters who practice Western Reiki but are open to know more about the Japanese Reiki system; to show how it differs from its Western version. There is no Reiki attunement provided in the workshop. The focus is on sharing knowledge about Japanese Reiki techniques and history, and practicing these techniques together.
Those participants, who would like to become familiar with the Japanese Reiki on a deeper level after the workshop, will receive information about what kind of possibilities are there in different Japanese Reiki schools.
Master Dae Chong has held such workshops before in Hungary and Romania only, on six occasions in total. Some of the participants, three Reiki masters from Hungary and five Reiki masters from Romania had the opportunity to travel to Japan several years later, and since then they have been able to work in their home countries as teachers authorized by a Japanese Reiki school. The number of such Reiki masters has recently increased in Romania, there are fifteen of them as of today.
We hope that we will meet Reiki teachers in the Asia-Pacific region as well, who would like to get to know the Japanese Reiki on a deeper level.
The planned locations of the workshops are:
Thailand: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai
Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu
Indonesia: Ubud, Yogyakarta
Australia: Perth, Sydney, Melbourne
New Zealand: Auckland, Wellington
The Usui Spiritual Lernejo Foundation will use the remaining net income (after expenses) from the workshops to conduct free trainings and to treat patients for free in the developing countries of Asia and Africa.
We are very happy to see that Japanese Reiki schools are present in several countries and that we share our Japanese Reiki lineage with many Western teachers. The Reiki instructors we are looking for to join us in the workshops are those who:
– don’t have time or cannot afford travelling to Japan to learn Reiki there;
– are not certain of their Reiki lineage or the Reiki that they practice differs from the most widespread Western Reiki system (in the number of levels and symbols);
– are teachers of the Usui Shiki Ryoho system or of schools that are originated from Shiki Ryoho, and are not familiar with, but are interested in the original Japanese Reiki system.
Our Foundation provides the opportunity for all of these Reiki instructors to get to know more about the origins of Reiki, and to learn about and practice different techniques from the Japanese Reiki system.
When starting our organization in 2008, we had the following goals:
Establishing contact with the members and teachers of the original school in Japan. Becoming acquainted with the original Usui Reiki Ryoho system in Japan, practicing it from the beginner’s level up, and teaching it one day. Treating patients with the method, documenting the treatments, their efficiency and result. Organizing of open day events, where anyone can try the healing method. Returning to the method of practicing together in groups instead of applying the seminar-like education system.
We were very surprised and grateful for how quickly our biggest dream started to come true after expressing our goals.
2008 – The first trip to Japan. Seijin and Dae Chong became familiar with some of the original practices there. Following their return, the members of our school started to learn these practices slowly, step by step. The first healing and practicing centers opened this year, and we held our first open day events as well. The Usui Spiritual Lernejo Community was officially registered in Hungary.
2009 – Dae Chong was invited to conduct training sessions abroad.
2010 – The second trip to Japan. Dae Chong spent a month in the country. He was introduced to several Reiki masters and also to leaders of other spiritual schools. He brought back many Japanese books with him, including the book of Kaiji Tomita, written in classical Japanese language. During his stay in Japan, Dae Chong got acquainted with all of the practices and also the original method of attunement. Following his return, members of the Usui Spiritual Lernejo Community gradually switched to practicing the original Usui Reiki.
By the year 2014, there were 220 practitioners in our school, practicing together in groups in 15 different cities. There were nine nonprofit healing centers operated by our organization with ten healers. We held more than a hundred open days each year.
2014 – Dae Chong traveled to Japan again and was accepted as a teacher there.
2016 – Seijin and Kikyō traveled with Dae Chong to Japan and returned as teachers.
Between 2008 and 2018 the translation work of the Japanese source materials was completed. Educational videos about the practices were recorded for the students. Last but not least, Emperor Meiji’s poems were translated from classical Japanese language.
In 2017 our organization became international; the Usui Spiritual Lernejo Foundation was registered in Malaysia.In 2018 Seijin participated at the unveiling ceremony of the memorial stone made for Master Usui in his birth town in Japan. Our organization’s name is engraved on the memorial tablet among the names of other organizations and individuals who helped with their donations to fund the building of the memorial.
The Usui Spiritual Lernejo Community considers the following sources to be authentic and the teachings of our school are based on these:
- Usui Reiki Hikkei: a handbook written by Master Usui to explain his method;
- The inscription on the Usui Memorial at the Saihoji Temple, Tokyo;
- Reiki Ryoho no Shiori: a handbook used by the members of the original organization;
- Kaiji Tomita’s book about the method, published in 1936;
- Meiji Tennō Gyosei: Waka poetry of the Emperor Meiji;
- Verbal and written instructions and teachings given to us by the members of the original organization, for which we would like to express our sincere gratitude.
The teachers of our school were guided by the Japanese masters to the following places:
- Tokyo – Usui Sensei’s Memorial at the Saihoji Temple. Dae Chong was allowed to take photos so that we can translate the inscription. (2008, 2010)
- Mt. Kurama – More precisely the spot where Master Usui held his 21-day fast on the mountain. All three teachers of our school meditated there and paid their respects to the Sensei and to the place. (2008, 2014, 2016)
- The birthplace of Master Usui. (2016)
- The place where Master Usui started practicing with his first disciples. (2016)
- Other places related to Usui Sensei, where we had the chance to learn about several chapters of his life. (2016)
This small organization completed a very large task. We spent more than 35,000 USD on professional translations, trips to Japan, training sessions there, and on information papers published by us. All of these were covered by the income from the training courses held in our school and the donations and contributions from the practicing members. To this day our healers live in modest circumstances.
We think what we were able to achieve in one country; we might be able to achieve anywhere else in the world, or hopefully at least in many other countries. That is the reason why our teachers have been learning languages for years now. Seijin has been learning German, Spanish, English and Italian. Dae Chong has been learning Thai, Indonesian and Esperanto, and he hopes to add one more language to that list each year. We would like to get to many countries, sow the seeds of the method, and where they fall on good soil, they will sprout.
During the next ten years we would like to establish teaching and practice centers, hold training courses and lead practicing groups all over the world, in any country where there is demand and we have the opportunity to do so. We hope that as a result, many professional healers will be able to help others like we do.
Ten years later we will see what we will have accomplished by then. Until then we will continue to work hard, travel, practice and hopefully we will be able to help many ill people in the future as well.
Usui Spiritual Lernejo Foundation manages the teaching of the Usui healing method internationally.
Usui Dentō Ryū School is specialized in the training of healers. The teachings, which are based on the guidelines of Master Usui, take place where our teachers live.
However, there are usually only a few people who want to become healers.
Manbyō no Reiyaku School can reach a wider audience. This two-day training, which focuses on self-healing, was created by Master Dae Chong. It contains everything that is necessary for self-healing and later, with practice, for the treatment of family members and friends.
The Foundation provides the framework for the operation of the two schools. It also preserves original documents about the method, which are being translated to other languages.
