About the Usui Reiki Therapy Society

Many have been criticizing the work of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai organization lately. In my opinion, the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai does exactly what it needs to do in today’s world. There are several written materials available to anyone: the Usui Reiki Hikkei; the Reiki Ryoho no Shiori; the Reiki and Jinjutsu: The Tomita Ryu Teate Method; and the Meiji Tenno Gyosei. The Usui Reiki meditation and the Usui Reiki practices are also accessible to the public. We are very grateful to the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai and its members for that.

Reiki is a spiritual path aimed at realizing ‘Anshin Ritsumei’. However, Reiki has become merely a technique and is no longer a spiritual path in the West. It is completely up to us to change that. If the approach is wrong, no one can help. We received all the guidance on the right attitude and practice, the rest is entirely our responsibility. No one is entitled to meddle in the internal operations of other organizations or the member admission practice of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai. The duty of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai is to preserve and maintain the practices of the Usui Reiki system. Let’s not forget that this is the very first Reiki organization with the most experience.

They undertook the difficult task of preserving Usui Reiki Ryoho. They have successfully done that so far, and there is no reason to believe that they will not do it well in the future. In my opinion, they did an extraordinary job during very difficult times. Some of the other organizations and schools that used to teach Reiki do not even exist anymore.

I do not agree with the opinion that since the war is long over, the organization should be more open. What would happen if the “masters” of some Western schools, who became Reiki masters in three weeks or three months, flooded the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai wanting to become members? The tradition of Reiki would come to an end if the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai allowed that. Some Western Reiki schools already claim their system to be better than the original Japanese Reiki system. The West tries to present its way of life as an improvement, but it opposes true spirituality and traditions. It is only worth adopting real values from the West, such as special technologies. Preserving traditions needs to be continued. I think it is very important to protect them.

I would like to thank all former and current members of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai for protecting Usui Reiki Ryoho. The members of our organization would also like to express their gratitude to the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai and its members for that.
